Physical Well-being

Physical activity has a positive impact on all aspects of your health and well-being: physical, mental and social. It reduces stress, strengthens the heart and lungs, it’s important for proper growth and development in children, increases energy levels, can lead to better sleep, prevents falls and injuries and it improves your outlook on life.

Physical activity has different personal benefits depending the individual, including what age you are, where you live, what part of the life cycle you are in, your personal goals, and more.

According to the Canadian Physical Activity Guidelines; “To achieve health benefits, adults aged 18 and over should accumulate at least 150 minutes of moderate—to—vigorous intensity aerobic physical activity per week, in bouts of 10 minutes or more.”

Unbelievably, even 10 minutes of activity is a good start! Once you get the ball rolling, you won’t

believe all the ways physical activity can benefit you and those around you.

If you want to make big changes to your lifestyle and reap the many benefits of being physically active, understand that everyone is different. For most people, it is best to start with small changes that can be maintained and to choose activities that you enjoy doing. Ask yourself, what motivates you? How much time do you have? Are you ready to add physical activity to your life (Not sure?
